Installation of 3 remote power stations using hydrogen fuel cells complete.

August 17, 2015

Working with the local agriculture community, Lamplighter Energy, Inc. has been able to bring online 3 remote power stations using Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology.  These stations historically were powered with Caterpillar diesel engines at a high operational cost and Green House Gas emissions level.

Systems powered by portable diesel power plants have a long history of reliability similar to the use of Hydrogen Fuel Cells.  However, the hidden price of operating diesel generators is often in the need to run a power system larger than the power need, wasting fuel and generating more energy that goes unused.  Lamplighter Energy's Hydrogen Fuel Cells were installed to fluctuate it's fuel use to provide the power each unit required throughout the refrigeration required.  Hydrogen Fuel is provided weekly by an installation of Solar PV to Hydrogen (Power to Gas) through an electrolysis unit.  The operators have responded favorably to the new system not only to its quiet operation and no emissions but as it does not require transporting diesel across farm roads or the maintenance required to keep a diesel generator operational.

Working with Lamplighter Energy's chief mechanic the team was able to repair older Carrier refrigeration systems used in the filed for storage of harvested produce and wire all the systems to the new Fuel Cells.
